Standard range – Carpal Grade 1-3
Measurement
Take measurements in centimeters with the animal standing.
1. Measure the circumference of the carpal joint.
2. Measure the distance from the elbow to the top of the paw.
Size guide:
Size | 1 (cm) | 2 (cm) |
---|---|---|
XS | Up to 10 | 6.5 – 11 |
S | Up to 12 | 9 – 16 |
M | Up to 15.5 | 10.5 – 20 |
L | Up to 19.5 | 13 – 25 |
XL | Up to 22.5 | 15 – 30 |
If the measurements are outside of the standard range we can customize an orthosis according to the measurements of the animal. Here you will find a measurement form for that.
Carpal Grade 2
Stabilizes the carpal joint after trauma and postoperatively. Adaptable to various types of injuries. Adjustable degree of stabilization and stabilization direction

Carpal Grade 2.5
Stabilizes the carpal joint after trauma and postoperatively with semi-rigid support. Postoperative and conservative treatment for minor sprains and medium arthrosis. Uses shapeable thermoplastic stabilizers that can be removed to allow for more movement.

Carpal Grade 3
Stabilizes the carpal joint with rigid support. Post-op and conservative treatment for medium to severe sprains and medium arthrosis. Provides lateral and medial support and prevents hyperextension. The orthosis uses a thermoplastic stabilizer system.

Carpal Grade 3
with Paw
Rigid orthosis that stabilizes the carpal joint and the paw. The unique design with a thermoplastic fabric turns it into an immobilizing cast after heating, with the benefit of easy removal for skin control and for early rehabilitation.

Carpal Grade 4
Custom made orthosis designed from a 3D scan of the individual. Designed according to the patient’s needs and can be adjusted and adapted to the desired level of movement with a stop band and/or motion limiter for controlled rehabilitation or as an insurance after surgery where extra stabilization is needed.

Step 3 – Do a 3D-scan.
Download our app Scandi Orthopedic 3D scanner from App Store here. The app is compatible with newer models of Iphone. Contact us for an access key. Our Scandiop 360° scanning jig is useful for accurate scans.
Important! The joints must be in a natural loading position, with the exception of flexon tendon injury when the joints must be in an offloading angle. For small or sedated dogs the best way can sometimes be to have the animal lie on a table, push out the leg, set the joint angulation with VetWrap, and scan free-hand in a vertical circle (see movie below). Scans that do not comply with these guidelines cannot be used for orthosis design.
